BoA subject to defamation graffiti incident… Police investigating 30-year-old woman who vandalized various locations in Seoul.

A woman in her 30s who left defamatory graffiti targeting singer BoA in multiple public places in downtown Seoul has been apprehended by the police. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the suspect’s motIVEs and circumstances of the crime, which involve two legal issues: damage to public property and defamation. According to the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, around 10:30 p.m. on the 12th, the police detained Ms. A, a woman in her 30s, on charges of property damage and defamation, and began questioning her in the form of voluntary detention. Ms. A is accused of defacing at least 10 locations, including bus stops, media billboards, and electrical distribution panels in Gangnam-gu, Gwangjin-gu, and Gangdong-gu in Seoul, with graffiti disparaging singer BoA. The incident came to light when SM Entertainment filed a formal complaint with the police on the 11th. The complaint reportedly included detailed information about the defamatory graffiti, locations, and the intentional nature of the acts. The agency warned of a strong response, stating that such continuous acts of defamation in public places not only harm BoA personally but also damage the image of the entire company.
