JTBC is set to launch a new drama series on Fridays, starting with a three-day weekend schedule.

JTBC will make changes to its weekend drama lineup starting in the second half of this year. Starting in July, a new program called ‘Friday Series’ will air every Friday at 8:50 PM, with two episodes broadcast consecutIVEly, and JTBC will operate a three-day consecutIVE drama lineup from Friday to Sunday. Already established as a powerhouse in weekend evening dramas, JTBC aims to provide viewers with even more rich weekend content through this lineup. The start of the new ‘Friday Series’ will be the drama ‘The Good DetectIVE,’ starring Yoo Jae-myung and Lee Seong-kyeong. This work, combining film noir sensibility and romance, will convey a unique emotion through the story of the eldest son of a gangster family and first love who dreams of becoming a singer. Following this, ‘My Youth’ starring Song Joong-ki and Jeon Yeo-been, and ‘Love Me’ showcasing Seo Hyun-jin’s emotional acting, will heighten viewers’ anticipation on Friday nights. JTBC’s weekend dramas are also thriving. In the first half of the year, works of various genres such as ‘Miss Monte-Cristo’ and ‘The Devil Judge’ receIVEd attention, and starting this weekend, the comedic investigatIVE drama ‘Good Boy’ starring Park Bo-gum and Kim So-hyun will be broadcast. Subsequently, legal drama ‘The Esquire,’ nostalgic ‘100 Memories,’ realistic portrayal of office workers in ‘The Story of Kim Bum-jang,’ and ‘Waiting for Kang Do’ starring Park Seo-joon are scheduled to air sequentially. JTBC stated, “We will fill the weekend prime time with new attempts and experiments,” and “We will broaden viewers’ choices and increase satisfaction by attempting various approaches in genres and subjects.” In fact, JTBC has gained steady trust by ranking first in the comprehensIVE channel category in the 2024 viewer evaluation index survey announced by the Korea Communications Commission. The expansion of the drama lineup in the second half of the year is drawing attention as to whether it can further enhance JTBC’s content competitIVEness.
