‘**Born to Travel the World**’ has returned for its fourth season. Following Season 1 in South America, Season 2 in India, and Season 3 in Madagascar, this time the journey takes place in **Chamagodo**.
On the 8th, the production presentation for MBC’s ‘**Born to Travel the World 4**’ (hereinafter ‘BTW4’) was held at the MBC headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. At the event, **PD Kim Jiwoo** and MC **Lee Seunghoon** were joined by **Gian84**, **Pannibottle**, and **Lee Si-eon** to share stories.
‘BTW4’ is a program where **Gian84**, known as ‘the man born to live on the edge,’ embarks on an expedition to the highest and most rugged mountain path in the world, **Chamagodo**. Reuniting the popular duo from Seasons 1-3, **Gian84** and **Pannibottle** **Lee Si-eon**, the show promises the biggest scale and most challenging expedition in the history of the series, starting from the ‘world’s highest peak’ **Everest** and following the path of **Chamagodo**.
During the event, the members unanimously agreed that this trip was the most difficult they had experienced. **Gian84** expressed his relief at returning, saying, “I thought I wouldn’t come back, so I’m very happy to be back.” He went on to share, “This was the most challenging trip I’ve ever been on,” and expressed his excitement and curiosity about how viewers would perceive it.
**Gian84** revealed, “After returning from ‘BTW,’ I usually lie in bed sick for about two weeks,” and confessed, “It’s been almost a month since this time, and now I’ve regained my strength.” He added, “I had to keep receiving intravenous fluids, and my body was so unwell that I thought I might have contracted a disease. Personally, it was a really tough journey.”
He continued, “This trip was new, but halfway through, I couldn’t speak or move,” and lamented, “It was physically very challenging.” He reflected, “It’s not a matter of being familiar or unfamiliar; it’s painful,” and humorously added, “It seems that it will be remembered as a painful journey.” He also shared, “Because the trip itself was so difficult, I felt so happy when I could finally sleep.”
When asked if this season would be the last, **Gian84** and **PD Kim Jiwoo** gave contrasting answers, piquing interest. **Gian84** mentioned that he had discussed with the PD whether this season would be the last and shared his mixed feelings about it. He confessed, “PD told me not to say it’s the last, but it is the last,” and admitted, “It felt cool to leave while receiving applause. I even felt emotional at the end.”
On the other hand, **PD Kim Jiwoo** recalled thinking that Seasons 2-3 were the last and stated, “Even this time, when we first left, we said, ‘Let’s go coolly with a last dance vibe.'” She added, “While we have the feeling that it’s the last, there are people who suggest that we should continue after returning this time, so we will discuss it well.”
She explained, “Since the participants embark on a journey to do what they really want and sincerely want to see, whether it’s the last or not, whether they want to do it or not, it’s not determined by saying ‘it’s the last or not the last.’ We need to consider the will and hearts of the participants together.”
**Gian84**, who won the Grand Prize at the 2023 ‘MBC Entertainment Awards,’ was asked if he hoped to win the award again this time. He cautiously replied, “I’m being careful not to sound too radical, but it would be nice to receive it if given.” He added, “I always have a sense of crisis when broadcasting because I make a living from it. I’m afraid of falling into mannerism, and since people say it’s not fun, I always traveled with the mindset of not getting used to it.”
Reflecting on the point where he felt a sense of accomplishment, **Gian84** said, “I feel like I’ve done almost all the ideas I had, but now I don’t really remember them,” and shared, “I traveled without any expectations.” He concluded, “If I forced myself to do it in a state without energy, viewers would notice. I feel like I’ve really burned out.”
Meanwhile, ‘**Born to Travel the World 4**’ will premiere on the 11th and will be broadcast every Sunday at 9:10 PM.
