The new tvN drama ‘Pro Bono’ has confirmed the casting of Jung Kyung-ho and So Ju-yeon, heralding the birth of a new legal drama.
Scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2025, tvN’s new drama ‘Pro Bono’ (written by Moon Yoo-seok, directed by Kim Sung-yoon, produced by Studio Dragon, Sequence One, Lotte Cultureworks, Studio Flo) is a tumultuous comic human legal drama that unfolds as a materialistic judge, who aspires for success, unintentionally becomes a public interest lawyer.
The drama, which brings together the writer Moon Yoo-seok, known for the legal dramas ‘Devil Judge’ and ‘Miss Hammurabi’, and the director Kim Sung-yoon, who has created the ‘Kim Sung-yoon Universe’ with dramas like ‘Love in the Moonlight’, ‘Itaewon Class’, and ‘The King’s Affection’, is garnering anticipation. The spotlight is on the meeting of actor Jung Kyung-ho, known as the ‘master of realistic acting’, and actress So Ju-yeon, who captivates viewers with her delicate emotions.
First, Jung Kyung-ho takes on the role of Kang Da-wit, a former judge turned public interest lawyer in the drama. Kang Da-wit, an influencer in the legal field with tens of thousands of followers on social media, embarks on a new life as a public interest lawyer after stepping down from his judgeship due to an unexpected incident. The story follows Kang Da-wit’s ups and downs as he strives to regain his former glory.
On the other hand, So Ju-yeon portrays Park Ki-ppum, a public interest lawyer who becomes a legal geek due to her deep-rooted nature of immersing herself in one thing. Park Ki-ppum finds healing in helping righteous citizens who rely on the beauty of the law and uphold human rights and social justice. Her warm-hearted character brings a breath of fresh air to the world.
Kang Da-wit and Park Ki-ppum, members of the non-profit organization ‘Pro Bono’, come together as public interest lawyers to represent conglomerates and help victims who have lost their way with nowhere to go. The synergy between Kang Da-wit, who knows the tactics of the powerful, and Park Ki-ppum, who is dedicated to helping victims, promises an exhilarating catharsis.
The drama ‘Pro Bono’ is set to premiere in the second half of the year on tvN.
