Former member of WEi, Cho Hyeon, signs exclusive contract with KeyEast… Stepping into acting career in earnest

Idol-turned-actress Cho Hye-won has found a new home at KeyEast.

KeyEast announced on the 16th that they will fully support Cho Hye-won, who possesses versatile charms in singing, acting, and variety shows, as well as a passion for acting, to actively engage in activities as an actress. They stated, “We ask for your great support for Cho Hye-won, who is standing at a new starting line.”

Debuting in 2020 as Joa (stage name) of the girl group Weeekly, Cho Hye-won played an active role as the main rapper and visual maknae within the team.

Weeekly won six rookie awards upon debut and achieved various milestones with their 2021 mini 3rd album title track ‘After School,’ including topping the iTunes album chart, reaching 100 million views on YouTube, and surpassing 200 million streams on Spotify.

In 2022, Cho Hye-won took her first step as an actress in the web movie ‘3.5th Period.’ In the drama, she portrayed Baek Ah-jin, a transfer student who becomes entangled in mysterious events after accidentally discovering a stopwatch that can slow down time by ten times.

Building her passion for acting, Cho Hye-won enrolled in Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Acting Arts as a 24th-generation student to prepare for her full-fledged acting career.

In addition to her activities as a singer and actress, she showcased her versatility as an ‘all-rounder’ through the web variety show ‘Ohiryeojoa’ Season 1, launched last year.

Upon signing an exclusive contract with KeyEast, Cho Hye-won expressed her excitement, saying, “I am thrilled to start anew at KeyEast, where respected seniors are present. I will strive to grow as an actress who can digest various genres and show new sides that I have not shown before, so please look forward to it.”

KeyEast, home to top actors in South Korea such as Cha Seung-won, Kim Hee-ae, Han Sun-hwa, and more, is a comprehensive entertainment company that has shown remarkable achievements in the production sector, including dramas and variety shows.
