On the morning of June 11, BTS’s Jimin and Jungkook were discharged from their military service together at the 5th Artillery Brigade in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.
With this, BTS is on the verge of completing the military service of all members, as they await the discharge of Suga, who is currently serving in alternatIVE military service, on the 21st.
Right after their discharge, the two greeted fans with a salute at a nearby public sports field and then officially reported to their agency, HYBE, at their Seoul Yongsan headquarters.
A lIVE broadcast with fans was immediately held on the fan communication platform Weverse, leading to an emotional reunion with fans after a long wait.
In the lIVE broadcast, Jimin laughed and said, “Seeing the hyungs start activities right after discharge made me feel like we need to prepare more.” He also mentioned, “I’ve been working hard on my diet since I gained some weight,” expressing his determination for health management.
Jungkook echoed similar sentiments, raising fans’ expectations for their return preparations.
In particular, Jimin drew attention by sharing an anecdote from his military service, saying, “Around the time I was a corporal, we gathered with the members and had a drink during our vacation.” He added, “I thought V had retired when I saw him at that gathering. I was so surprised by the change in his physique, but when I saw him yesterday, he had returned to his original state.” This not only showcased the strong bond between the members but also highlighted the efforts and preparation process of the members returning to the group.
Jimin and Jungkook enlisted together in December 2023 at the 5th Artillery Brigade, serving as a gunner and a cook, respectIVEly.
Especially, Jungkook’s cooking skills, which he often showcased in communication with fans, were demonstrated in his role as a cook in the military, presenting a different side of him.
With only Suga left to return, following Jin, J-Hope, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook, the ARMY fandom expressed joy through messages like “Finally Complete Group D-1” and “The youngest members are back” on social media.
To commemorate this, HYBE installed a large wrapping on the headquarters’ exterior with the message ‘WE ARE BACK,’ symbolizing the members’ return. This display will continue until June 29, with fans visiting the building daily to express their gratitude.
Although the exact schedule for resuming official activities has not been announced yet, the members have been mentioning their expectations for a reunion through broadcasts and fan platforms, indicating that a full group comeback is only a matter of time.
