RM (Kim Namjoon) and V (Kim Taehyung) officially completed their military service on the morning of the 10th. The two, who enlisted in actIVE duty in December last year, served in the Army’s 15th Division Military Band and the 2nd Division Military Police Special Mission Group, respectIVEly. On this day, after completing their discharge procedures at their respectIVE units, they appeared in front of fans and the press near Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. RM and V receIVEd flower bouquets from their agency staff, embraced each other, and shared the joy of returning. In particular, RM made the atmosphere even warmer by playing the ‘DetectIVE Conan’ OST on the saxophone. RM expressed, “While serving, I deeply felt that many people were taking on the duty of national defense on our behalf during our activities,” and stated, “From today, I will return as RM of BTS.” V also reflected, “Military service was a time for me to reflect on myself,” and said, “If ARMY wants, I can do anything,” revealing his affection for the fans. RM mentioned that the first thing he wants to do after discharge is “performances” and stated, “I will focus on working on a new album.” V also expressed, “I want to meet with the fans as soon as possible.” Fans from around the world visited the site to congratulate the two members on their discharge. Some fans carried banners, and there were scenes of waving foreign flags. Despite the agency’s prior notice to refrain from visiting the site for safety reasons, fans’ enthusiastic support remained strong. Police, emergency personnel, and security guards were deployed to maintain order. Former BTS members Jin and J-Hope were discharged in June and October last year, respectIVEly, and have been continuing their actIVE activities. Jimin and Jungkook are scheduled to be discharged on the 11th, and Suga is set to be released on the 21st, bringing the imminent completion of all seven members’ military service. Expectations for the group’s full activities are growing. In celebration of the members’ discharge, their agency, HYBE, displayed a large-scale wrapping with the phrase ‘WE ARE BACK’ on the exterior wall of their building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. This wrapping, featuring the official logos of BTS and the fandom ARMY, will be on display until June 29, also commemorating their 11th debut annIVErsary on June 13.
