Irene & Seulgi “Our own color and balance, now it’s time to show it for real”… Complete synergy in 5 years with ‘TILT’

Irene & Seulgi: “Our Unique Color and Balance, Now Truly Revealed… ‘TILT’ Marks Their Complete Collaboration After 5 Years

Red Velvet’s subunit Irene & Seulgi have joined hands once again after fIVE years.

They shared that they poured everything into their new mini album ‘TILT’ in order to continue their reputation as a ‘performance unit.’

In a recent interview conducted right before the album release, they vividly talked about their reflections on returning to unit activities after a long time and the detailed preparation process involved.

Irene expressed her gratitude to the fans who waited for them for so long, saying, “We prepared the album with a sense of responsibility that matches the amount of time you waited.”

Seulgi also mentioned, “We incorporated all the experiences we gained during our solo activities over the past 5 years into this album,” and proudly stated that it resulted in “a product where Irene & Seulgi’s unique colors are even more vivid.”

Emphasizing the importance of ‘harmony,’ they added that they focused on achieving seamless synchronization from vocals to choreography.

When they first heard the title track ‘TILT,’ they felt that it was ‘the song we should do.’

Irene explained, “Among several songs, this song’s balance of emotions and sophisticated flow suited us the best,” while Seulgi said, “The restrained aesthetics and weighty message perfectly represent us at this moment.”

The choreography expressing tilted emotions left a strong impression, with the two stating, “The key is the performance where we move like a balance scale,” and adding, “Even though it may look simple, precise synchronization is necessary.”

Their chemistry is also flawlessly displayed in the music video.

Seulgi shared, “There were many scenes where we were in competition, but when we made eye contact, we couldn’t help but burst into laughter, so we acted while looking at ambiguous places,” conveying the atmosphere on set, while Irene revealed, “It was interesting to create a new image by exchanging emotions with each other.”

The visual direction that visually portrays the dual emotions of ‘love and hate’ also raises fans’ expectations.

The teasers and stylings with different concepts also reveal the sensibility of this album.

Irene described the first teaser in a black dress as “a look that shows the album’s basic attitude,” and Seulgi laughed, saying, “The new wig styling looked so natural that many thought it was my actual hair.”

Even in each visual element, the meticulous care put into them was evident in their statements.

Lastly, they announced that they will hold their first unit solo concert starting with performances in Seoul on June 14-15.

Irene stated, “Our goal while preparing the album was to successfully lead up to the concert,” and Seulgi expressed warm expectations to the fans, saying, “We will show a stage of a different color from Red Velvet.”

Having been together for 16 years, Irene and Seulgi, this album is a stage that fully embodies the trust and harmony built over that long period.
