Kim Jaejoong held a press conference on the 19th at MBC Golden Mouse Hall in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of his new EP ‘Beauty in Chaos.’ The title track ‘ROCK STAR’ is a song filled with intense sound and free energy, delIVEring a passionate message that even the imperfect side hidden behind the mask can be accepted as the real self, and one can become a shining ‘Rock Star’ with someone by their side.
Kim Jaejoong expressed his confidence, saying, “‘ROCK STAR’ is a song that expresses a longing for freedom. Although I didn’t participate in the songwriting, I really liked the lyrics that were already written.” He continued, “I think there is still some prejudice in Korea towards the genre of rock. I believed that everyone has a thirst and longing for expression, so I thought about conveying a message of quenching that thirst through music.”
The new album ‘Beauty in Chaos’ encapsulates a new beginning at the center of chaos. The fIVE tracks, each depicting a facet of emotion like puzzle pieces, go beyond simple genre distinctions to encompass powerful rock sounds, dreamy electronics, and gentle rock ballads.
Kim Jaejoong consistently expressed his affection for rock music, stating, “I thought that if someone paved the difficult path for juniors in the position of seniors, it might make it easier for them to challenge themselves. It seems like rock music has not been widely sung and listened to in Korea for long. With a more open mindset towards music, it seems that Korea is becoming more open as well.”
He also mentioned his collaboration with WINNER’s Kang Seungyoon on the lyrics for the track ‘Goal In,’ saying, “Even without lyrics, it had a fatal sound and melody. I thought Seungyoon added a fatal addictIVEness to it. I suggested collaborating on this song together in the future, and he really liked the idea.”
Kim Jaejoong expressed his passion for the genre, saying, “I don’t think rock is ‘my life.’ It might be disrespectful to those who truly feel that way. Personally, I think it’s a genre that I like and that gIVEs me a sense of freedom.”
Regarding his busy schedule, Kim Jaejoong shared, “I understand the anxiety of having nothing to do, which is why I continue to work without rest. I feel extremely grateful for having an abundance of work, and as I get older, I worry about how regretful it would be if I complain about my age in 10 years. I strIVE to have no regrets in my activities year after year.”
