Lee Kyung-sil explains auction rumor, “Situation got complicated since 3 years ago… Finally resolved.”

Comedian Lee Kyung-sil has spoken out directly regarding the auction of the apartment in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, owned by her.

On the 16th, Lee Kyung-sil opened up on her social networking service (SNS), saying, “I’ll tell you the conclusion first. It has been resolved.”

Lee Kyung-sil expressed her bewilderment, saying, “I’m sorry to many people who were surprised, curious, and worried without even asking me. Even my family didn’t know, and articles came out while I was resolving it, which was very perplexing.”

Regarding the reason for the auction, she explained, “I hadn’t been working for a few years, so I invested somewhere to find a stable income. It was fine at first, but things got complicated starting from three years ago.”

She honestly admitted, “I was trying to keep it a secret from my children, but in the end, the whole nation found out, and I feel embarrassed.”

Finally, Lee Kyung-sil concluded her post by saying, “I would like to post a photo of the cancellation receipt, but I will hold back. I’m sorry and thankful to those who worried and cared.”

Earlier, it was reported that an auction for Lee Kyung-sil’s 293㎡ (89 pyeong) apartment in Ichon-dong would take place on the 27th at the Seoul Western District Court through the real estate auction data specialist company, Jisik Auction.

According to the land register, Lee Kyung-sil purchased the apartment for approximately 1.4 billion won in 2007 and has been living there.

It is speculated that the apartment was put up for auction because the money borrowed against it was not repaid. There is a maximum claim amount of 1.8 billion won set under the name of Mr. A.

Mr. A demanded over 1.33 billion won last September, applied for a court-ordered auction, and transferred the claim to a lending company.

Meanwhile, Lee Kyung-sil debuted in 1987 by winning a gold prize at the MBC ‘Gag Contest’ and has been actively engaged in broadcasting activities since then. She has a daughter and an actor son, Son Bo-seung, from her previous marriage in 1992. After divorcing in 2003, she remarried businessman Choi in 2007.
