Kim Nam-gil and Seo Kyung-duk deliver ‘Hangeul Love’ to Budapest… Donating educational supplies to commemorate King Sejong’s birthday

On May 15, actor Kim Nam-gil and Seo Kyung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women’s University, joined forces to donate educational supplies to the ‘Budapest Korean Learning Center’ in Hungary to commemorate ‘King Sejong the Great Day’. ‘King Sejong the Great Day’ was designated as a national legal holiday last year to honor King Sejong’s achievements and to elevate national pride as a cultural nation.

Starting with the first donation to the ‘Guroteugi Korean School’ in New York last year, followed by the ‘Kannamsadang Korean Cultural School’ in Vancouver, this marks the third donation. The ‘Worldwide Korean Language Education Support Campaign’ they are carrying out involves donating educational supplies to weekend schools striving for Korean language education and study groups for foreigners learning Korean around the world.

Professor Seo, who planned this event, stated, “Recently, I personally donated various teaching aids such as smart TVs, laptops, elementary textbooks, and numerous school supplies to the ‘Budapest Korean Learning Center’ and returned.” He added, “With the widespread popularity of K-pop, K-dramas, etc., there has been an increase in foreigners and overseas Koreans wanting to learn Korean and Hangul, so I wanted to contribute to their education even in a small way.”

Kim Nam-gil, who sponsored this event, said, “I will continue to inquire about organizations working hard for Korean language education worldwide and provide steady support in the future.”
