The 78th Cannes Film Festival has strengthened its dress code regulations to maintain dignity on the red carpet. On the eve of the opening day, on the 12th, the Cannes Film Festival announced a revised dress code prohibiting exposure on the red carpet and within the festival venue. To maintain dignity, they stated that exposed bodies are not allowed, and voluminous clothing and long hemlines are not permitted. It was further emphasized that those who violate these regulations will be restricted from entering the red carpet. The organizers explained that this decision is a measure to maintain dignity. This is seen as a response to the recent ‘exposure competition’ that has been ongoing on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, possibly influenced by models like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner who have worn provocative dresses. Meanwhile, the Cannes Film Festival will be held in the southern French resort city of Cannes from the 13th to the 24th. Although Korea has not submitted a competitive entry for the third consecutive year, Korean individuals, including director Hong Sang-soo, have been selected as jury members.
