Yoon Il-sang: “Contracts are no joke”…

Composer and producer Yoon Ilsang expressed his honest thoughts regarding the legal dispute between the group Newkidd and their agency, ADOY. On the 2nd, Yoon Ilsang asked for his opinion on the ‘Newkidd situation’ on his YouTube channel, stating, “Contracts are not a joke,” and criticizing, “If you love an artist, you shouldn’t expose them to danger. That is not true love.” He added, “It’s heartbreaking. The members may regret it in the future. I don’t know now,” and expressed his thoughts that “It seems like those adults next to them should have helped, but instead of handling the future of those friends (Newkidd) for their own benefit.” Yoon Ilsang said, “‘Production’ is a human business,” and mentioned, “It implies taking responsibility for that person’s life, but because it is for profit, money must be made. There are temptations that come from there.” He explained that the values emphasized by large companies and small producers are different, saying, “Newkidd has already made their choice. If they signed a contract, it is right to fulfill it first. Then asserting their rights is also a way.” Yoon Ilsang pointed out, “I don’t want to curse (Newkidd) members. The adults who expose artists and make them speak out are the real problem,” and also said, “If you really want an artist, you probably won’t do that.” He honestly stated, “Artists should make music. That’s why the company exists,” and expressed, “If they do interviews and clarify their positions themselves, that’s not the company’s existence. But since they denied the company themselves, that part is regrettable.” Newkidd notified ADOY of the termination of their exclusive contract at the end of last year and announced independent activities under the new team name ‘NJZ.’ In response, ADOY filed for an injunction to prevent Newkidd members from independent activities, which the court cited in March. Despite declaring the suspension of activities after a Hong Kong performance last month, Newkidd objected to the court’s injunction and filed an appeal. However, the court rejected it on the 16th of last month. The Newkidd members plan to prove their claims in the main lawsuit.
