The group i-dle confirmed their full group comeback on May 19th.
Their agency Cube Entertainment released a video titled ‘for (G)’ through i-dle’s official SNS channels on May 2nd, featuring members (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, Shuhua). In the video, i-dle mourned their time together with ‘G’ by dancing, laughing, and splashing wine with people in black robes. As everyone left, only the ashes of a burning ‘G’ remained, followed by a voice singing the lyrics “Who’s afraid?” from i-dle’s debut song ‘LATATA.’
Additionally, i-dle announced the release of their 8th mini album. The video, which conveyed a challenging message of bidding farewell to ‘G’ and embarking on a new beginning, ended with the text ‘8th Mini Album,’ followed by intriguing dates such as May 5th, 6th, 9th, 14th, 16th, and 19th.
Pre-orders for i-dle’s 8th mini album have begun. The album comes in three versions, with a poster included for those who pre-order the album or CD version. A photo card album without a CD is also being released, allowing fans to enjoy various digital contents through a QR code.
On the occasion of their 7th debut anniversary, i-dle changed their group name from ‘(G)I-DLE’ to ‘i-dle.’ Having renewed their contracts with Cube Entertainment in December last year, the group decided to remove ‘G’ and ‘girl’ from their name to showcase limitless music and concepts. The name change quickly trended as the top real-time search term on Chinese social media platform Weibo, demonstrating i-dle’s influence both domestically and internationally.
Leading up to their comeback on May 19th, i-dle is engaging with fans through various contents.
