The nominees for the 23rd Directors Cut Awards have been announced. This year’s ceremony will focus on films and drama series directed by regular and associate members of the Directors Guild of Korea (DGK) released between January 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. The Directors Cut Awards, which started in 1998 as the first event hosted by the Young Filmmakers’ Group Directors Cut, transitioned to a DGK-sponsored event in 2017, continuing the tradition of a lively and informal ceremony. Since 2022, new series categories have been introduced. The Directors Cut Awards, unique for its selection process involving votes from Korean film directors, presents awards such as Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best New Director, and Vision Award (Independent Film Award) to creators. In addition, it distinguishes itself from traditional film awards by not differentiating between lead and supporting actors, and by introducing new awards for breakthrough actors. The nominees in the 13 categories announced at the 22nd Directors Cut Awards include films, new directors, screenplays, vision, female actors, male actors, new female actors, new male actors, series directors, series female actors, series male actors, new female actors, and new male actors. The 22nd Directors Cut Awards, organized by DGK, will take place on May 20th at 7 p.m.
